Private Time Tracker

TickTappy keeps your tags and entries in a database on the device you tapped on. Without an account there is no email address, no password and no profile anywhere; the app has never asked for your name. Summaries are computed on the device from that local copy, so reading your week does not send it anywhere.

If you turn on Premium sync, your entries are copied to your account so your other devices can pull them. That is the only reason data leaves the device, it only happens when you choose it, and it can be turned off again. There is no employer view, no admin console and no shared workspace, because the app has no concept of another person.

No screenshots. No keystroke logging. No list of the apps you had open or the websites you visited. No GPS trail. No idle detection deciding whether your minutes counted. No webcam check-ins. These are the standard features of employee-monitoring software, and TickTappy has none of them by design rather than by setting: there is nothing to turn off because the code to do it was never written.

The entries themselves are deliberately thin. An entry is a tag, a start time and an end time. There is no description field to accidentally fill with a client's name and no project field to leak an organisation chart. If the thing you are worried about is what a time tracker knows about your day, a tracker that only knows the tag and the minutes is the most private option that still produces a total.

Hubstaff and Time Doctor belong to a category called employee monitoring, and their screenshots, activity scores and URL logs are the product, not a side effect. Toggl Track and Clockify are cloud time trackers without surveillance features, but your hours live in their cloud under an account, and on a team plan an administrator can see them.

TickTappy is a personal timer. If your employer requires monitoring software, TickTappy cannot replace it, and that is rather the point: it is the tool you pick for yourself when you want to know where your own time went, without the record becoming something someone else reads.

The private alternative to a cloud tracker has usually been paper or a spreadsheet, which is honest but gives you no weekly total without arithmetic and no way to start a timer from your wrist. TickTappy keeps the spreadsheet's property, that the data is yours and stays with you, and adds the parts a spreadsheet cannot do: a one-tap start, an Apple Watch app, Home Screen widgets and day and week summaries that are already added up.
